After starting my fashion career in Boston, I relocated to New York and accepted a job with Vera Wang at her flagship bridal house on Madison Avenue. The first day on the job I knew I would be in the bridal industry for the rest of my life – it was home.
My experience at Vera Wang was incredibly rewarding – it never hurts to learn from the best. However, deep down, I wanted to be my own boss. I relocated to Virginia in 2003, and after several months here, I purchased Tiffanys Bridal and Formal Wear, which had been in existence for more than 30 years here in Hampton Roads. "Tiffanys" became "Tiffanys by Maya" and a new era was born. After an extensive remodel, an infusion of exciting new bridal lines, and several years of perfecting our operations, I changed the
name to Maya Couture in 2007.
2013 will mark nine years happily serving thousands of Hampton Roads' very special brides-to-be. As my business has grown, so has the reputation and recognition. In 2011, Maya Couture was named one of the Top 50 Best Bridal Salons, nationwide, by BRIDE'S Magazine, and we continue to be named a Best Of winner by The Knot, Wedding Wire,
Virginia Living Magazine, and many more.
The bridal industry is fascinating, emotional, and sentimental. I love working with brides and my fellow colleagues to help every bride realize all of her dreams and visions for one of the biggest days of her life. It is extremely rewarding to know that I take part in making your dreams come true.
I can't wait to help make your special day a dream come true! —Maya
